Sign up at dashboard.helius.dev and create a project — your API key is shown in the dashboard and can be used as a query parameter (?api-key=YOUR_API_KEY). You can also create accounts and keys programmatically via the Helius CLI or MCP server.
Helius bills API usage in credits — each method has a specific credit cost. Your plan includes a monthly credit allowance that resets each billing cycle (unused credits do not roll over). See the credits page for the full cost table per method, and autoscaling if you need to exceed your plan limits.
Standard RPC methods are raw Solana JSON-RPC calls (getAccountInfo, getTransaction, etc.). The DAS API is a higher-level, unified interface for querying Solana digital assets — NFTs, compressed NFTs, fungible tokens, and inscriptions — with enriched metadata, ownership, and pricing data in a single structured response.

Requests return a 429 max usage reached error once your credits are exhausted. To avoid interruptions, enable autoscaling on fiat plans, or purchase prepaid credits on crypto plans.
